Postgraduate Diploma Course in Homeopathy for Medical Doctors

The Faculty offers this three-year course comprising 25 three-day weekend modules of 20 hours each, providing 500 hours of direct tuition. In addition assignments, study projects and case analyses must be completed.

• 8 three-day weekend modules per year

• Introduction to the philosophy, history, principles, materia medica and clinical application of homeopathy.

• A wide range of acute and chronic psychological and clinical conditions met with in general practice will be covered.

• Case presentations – case-taking, case-analysis, case-management – therapy.

• Homeopharmaceutics – the compounding and dispensing of homeopathic remedies.

• Formative assessment will be applied throughout the three-year period.

• Only students who have achieved an adequate level of homeopathic education, as judged by assessments, and who have a satisfactory attendance record, will be permitted to participate in the final examination process.

The Faculty's Homeopathy course is presented at two centres - Johannesburg and Cape Town. A new course is commenced whenever a sufficient number of applicants have enrolled and a new course is due to start in January 2008. (Another course will only be run after the group starting in January 2008 has completed their modules 3 years later and have completed their final assessments.)

The Faculty course is accredited by the British Faculty of Homeopathy and by the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA). On successful completion of the course, graduates are awarded the diplomas of the SA Faculty of Homeopathy (DFHom.SA) and the British Faculty (MFHom. UK) and are eligible for registration as homeopaths with AHPCSA.

Please note that only medical doctors registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa(HPCSA) are eligible to sit the final examination for the Postgraduate Dipoma in Homeopathy (DFHom.SA).
